数学ゲーム
Scientific Americanに掲載されていて日本では日経サイエンス上で和訳されていたMartin Gardnerの数学ゲームMathematical Gamesは僕のと言わず数学ファンほぼ全員のお気に入りであると思う。そして1981年に終了してからも、彼のあといろんな人がこのコラムを引き継いできた。
ちょっと前のNature*1でIan Stewartの本（"Letters to a Young Mathematician"）がレビューされていて、ちょっと興味がわいたので誰が後を継いだか、調べてみた。

ここで気がついたのだが、Dennis Shashaのコラムが2006年4月の時点*2で終了し、それらしきコラムは現在掲載されていないように思う。うーむ、もうやらないのかな？
ちなみにそのNatureのブックレビューでRobert Kanigelの"The Man Who Knew Infinity"（「無限の天才―夭逝の数学者・ラマヌジャン」）が勧められていた。*3結構前から気になってはいるが厚い。
